Why I became a Hypnotherapist

Why I trained to become a Hypnotherapist.

I have worked for over 25 years in the fitness industry and my health and wellbeing are the most important thing in my life, before my husband and daughter.  Because without my health and fitness, I wouldn’t be able to do all of the things I do with hubby and daughter.

After working as a Personal Trainer for so many years, working with so many people of different ages, background etc. it became boring, and it wasn’t challenging me anymore.  It was whilst on holiday at Center Parcs (2007) and waiting to have a massage, I was reading an in-depth article in a magazine about hypnotherapy that piqued my curiosity.

I returned home and did some research into training to become a Hypnotherapist – because I love working with people and I have always been a massive believer in the power of the mind and what can be achieved with the right mindset.  I found a college that did their courses at Leeds General Infirmary and it wasn’t that far for me to travel.  I attended a foundation course which was run over 4 weekends and it blew my mind.  Yes, I was sceptical and the naughty one at the back of the classroom, but that soon changed. I finished the course and signed up to do the Diploma in Hypnotherapy.  I started reading more books about hypnotherapy and how the mind/brain works and still do even now.

Whilst completing the Diploma in Hypnotherapy we worked on each other and were required to start working with family and friends.  I have to say that some of the results we were getting were wonderful and amazing.  I passed the Diploma with a Distinction in 2008 and it is one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

Now, I have suffered with stress, anxiety and been depressed – and I didn’t like it one bit.  It was using a positive mindset and living life one day at a time that got me out of that pit of despair and able to move forward with my life.  This was over 20 years ago, and I still live my life just one day at a time – today.  I refuse to worry, stress or be anxious about anything and if I feel any negative emotions or thoughts coming into my head or body, I get rid of them straight away.  I’m not special, and if I can change my mindset and change my life so can you.

Since 2008, I have had the privilege of working with some amazing people whose lives were in pieces, they hated themselves, wanted to lose weight or stop being anxious, stressed or depressed.  People who wanted to stop smoking/drinking, be more confident and successful in life. There are so many issues that can be treated successfully with Hypnotherapy.

Change is what I love to see most, it’s my Why I do what I do. The changes people make to their mindset, their way of thinking and living, changes to their lifestyles to enable them to lose weight and become more confident and have more self-esteem.

I have completed many courses to do with Hypnotherapy since I qualified in 2008, I am also an EFT Practitioner, Hypno AntiDepressant Practitioner and Life Coach as well recently qualifying to be a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace.  I have gained so much experience as a Hypnotherapist during this time and I want to share it with you.
